Februray 15th. Mount St. Helens and Bainbridge Island
We finally arrived at Bainbridge Island for a nice visit with Maria and Jeff Mason. The beautiful lighthouse home was so unexpected and so sweet. Amanda and Amelia had visited years ago and told us all about how fabulous it is and now I see why.
And the view of Seattle across the Puget Sound is fabulous!

There was a longshoreman strike on the waterfront and at one point there were about 12
ships lined up to be unloaded.

Our second morning walk along the beach, Maria found a new treasure. I understand this is a daily occurnace while on her morning walk. That morning it was a shovel, in perfect condition, just laying on the beach waiting to be claimed.
Then John looked up and saw an Eagle feasting in the distance behind drift wood.
The Eagle finally got annoyed with us as we walked very close so he picked up his feast and flew to the nearest piling to continue his dinner.
Once the eagle finished feasting, he flew by us quite a few times.
It was really amazing for this gal who had never seen Eagles up close!
We spend lots of time taking photos of birds Bainbridge Island. This was a new experience for me and I now hooked and will continue to study birds in the future.
The following 3 photographs were taken by Maria.
Maria was able to get this shot of the Eagle who landed very high up in the evergreen tree outside their living room door. We saw him quite a few times.
My shots aren't quite as close up, Here you can see how tall the tree is.
Later we went for an aftenoon drive and shopping in the village.
Of course, a stop good coffee was first on the list.
