Day Tripping in the Philadelphia Area
Soon after we arrived, John and I spent some real quality time with my cousins,
Randy and Ginny Smith!
We never get to see each other often so this was a very special 24 hours ~
which continued on Thanksgiving day at Barry and Jeanne's.

~Walking around Philly the day after Thanksgiving~
while John relaxed before our long drive west to Colorado!
John Wanamaker's! The Iconic Philadelphia department store, and the first
department store in Philadelphia, closed it doors in 1995. It was so sad as it is such a beautiful old building. Mr Wanamaker had converted an abandoned Philadelphia Railroad Depot building into a multipurpose clothing store. Wanamaker's had the best Christmas light show and happily has continued to be displayed every Christmas by the occupants of this fabulous building.
The light show is several stories high and can been viewed from all the floors.
In 2006, the store was converted to Macy's who continues to occupy it today.
Such grand city history.

After leaving Macy's I walked a few more blocks and came across the above Sign~
"Oldest Photograph"
how cool is that. Of course I had to take the newest photo!
Next is the City Hall Christmas tree and the last is another beautiful building in Philly. I am not sure what was there but it had to be a nice clothing store from the layout. Now it is a CVS, and is managed so beautifully. I was so impressed and happy to see such beautiful building being taken care of with such love.
