February 2: Today we headed to San Diego.
We had such a good time in Phoenix and thanks to Debbie, John has some extra time to relax and recuperate! We said a heartfelt Goodbye to Debbie & her beautiful home, and our Superbowl celebration ~ and headed west to the Pacific Ocean!

Heading WEST!
Beautiful Mountains gave way to agriculture, solar energy panels,
a beautiful church and the USA Boarder.

Collective Memory of Humanity"
Museum of the History of GraniteI saw this beautiful church from afar and just started snapping! |
Taking these top two photographs as we drove by at 70mph, I had no clue what we had passed! Upon googling the name on the sign I saw what we missed.
This country has so many wonderful unknowns to explore.
Hopefully another time!

The Imperial Sand Dunes, Niland Ca.
I was so surprised to find dunes so far inland from the ocean.
'These dunes are the largest sand dunes open to off-highway vehicle use in the United States. The dunes begin 10 miles southeast of Niland and stretch all the way into Mexico, over 40 miles away.
Situated east of the Imperial Valley agricultural region, the dunes are bordered to the west by the Coachella Canal, a waterway diverting Colorado River water to fertile agricultural lands further north. The dune system consists of three areas. The northernmost area is known as Mammoth Wash. This open area allows OHV use and offers a more isolated experience.'
